Burra Forge

This forge is located at the Burra Bon Accord Mine complex and is one of many attractions at the complex. The forge itself has a classic ‘Cornish’ designed flue and is fitted with a traditional bellows as well as a small blower to supply enough air to keep the forge idling in between using the bellows.

There is also an original slate sided quench bath.

All of the equipment is in excellent condition and there is a large range of tooling to use to complete basic forge work.

The forge is under the care of the Burra National Trust and is opened a few times a year, usually for special weekends and events.

The National Trust now has a local blacksmith employed during the opening days, so A.B.A.S.A. is no longer manning the forge.

We would highly recommend that you visit the forge and museum if you are in the area.
